Family Sponsorship Program
The Canada Family Sponsorship enables Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor relatives who will then become permanent residents and can live in country permanently. The Family Sponsorship Program is run by the Government of Canada. The Family Sponsorship Canada is the most generous family reunification programs in the developed world. After all, the Canadian government is committed to keeping families whenever possible. There are number of relationships that qualify under Canada Family Sponsorship Program. This means Canada has different family sponsorship programs for the applicants willing to settle in Canada on permanent basis.

How Family Sponsorship Works
If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, age 18 or over, you can sponsor certain family members to become Canadian permanent residents. If you become a permanent resident, you can live, study and work in Canada. If you sponsor a relative to come to Canada as a permanent resident, you are responsible for supporting your relative financially when he or she arrives. In addition to being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, the sponsor must also fulfill a few other requirements in order to be eligible.
The sponsor must:
- Prove that they will be able to financially support their family member and any dependent, if necessary
- Enter into an agreement with the Government of Canada, as well as the sponsored relative, where the sponsor will agree to support the family member for a certain amount of time. The sponsored relative must make an effort to support themselves, as well.
- Either reside in Canada prove their intention to live in Canada when the sponsored relative arrives in Canada
- Be at least 18 years old
- Not be incarcerated or charged with a serious offence
- Not be bankrupt
- Not be under a removal order if a Permanent Resident
Types Of Sponsorship

Spousal Sponsorship
This comprises married couples, common-law partners, and conjugal partners (comprising same-sex relationships).

Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship
Canadian citizens or permanent immigrants may sponsor their parents or grandparents to help them immigrate to Canada.

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa
Another option for parents and grandparents to easily visit Canada for up to 2 years at a time with a super visa that can stay valid for up to 10 years.

Dependent Child Sponsorship and Other Sponsorship
Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents may sponsor their dependent children to live with them in Canada. That comprises adopted children and other orphaned family members. Other family members may be sponsored under exceptional circumstances.

Provincial Family Class Sponsorship
Other options to contemplate are the Family Class Sponsorship Programs offered under Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Keep in mind that these PNPs are at the provincial level and are not a part of the Federal Family Class Sponsorship Program.
